Introducing Prairie Creek Homes: Custom Homes Built for Florida, Designed for Generations

Prairie Creek Homes is open, and our website is live.

We build custom homes in North Central Florida with a land-first mindset and a focus on long-term performance. Every home starts with the site. Every material is selected for how it holds up in heat, humidity, and storms. Every detail is resolved with the next fifty years in mind.

With the launch of our website, here is who we are, the construction firm behind us, and the people leading the work.

A Custom Home Builder Rooted in North Central Florida

Florida does not tolerate shortcuts. The climate, the soil, and the water table all put pressure on a house from the day it is framed. Homes built without accounting for that pressure show it — in moisture intrusion, in envelope failures, in repairs that arrive far sooner than they should.

Prairie Creek Homes was founded in 2023 on a straightforward premise: build homes for Florida, and design them to serve generations.

Our architecture draws from Florida’s vernacular traditions and rural heritage. Elevated foundations, metal roofs, wide porches, and breezeways are not styling decisions. They are climate responses that have worked in this state for more than a century, and they still work. We build modern interpretations of Cracker-style homes that feel grounded on their sites rather than dropped onto them.

Backed by Miller Building Group

Most builders learn what fails by building. We learned it by investigating failures for more than a decade before we ever poured a slab.

Prairie Creek Homes is a Miller Building Group company. Miller Building Group is a Gainesville-based construction consulting firm founded in 2011 as Hoy & Miller Consulting, LLC, by Brice Miller and Wesley Hoy, P.E. In 2021, Brice acquired full ownership and the firm was renamed. Since its founding, MBG has consulted on more than 6,000 construction matters across single-family residential, multi-family, commercial, and institutional buildings, and has completed more than 100 turnover evaluations.

That work is forensic. It includes destructive and non-destructive testing, thermographic imaging, drone documentation, warranty evaluations, and expert witness testimony. It means evaluating buildings after failures and documenting exactly how they happened. Those findings shape how we build. Building envelope integrity, moisture management, and system coordination are not upgrades at Prairie Creek Homes. They are the standard specification. Flashing details, drainage planes, ventilation paths, and material transitions get resolved on paper before they get built in the field, because we have seen the cost of resolving them later.

Best practices are our standard practices.

Meet the Leadership Team

The same people who direct Miller Building Group’s technical work direct ours.

Brice Miller — President

Brice Miller is President of Miller Building Group and the founder of Prairie Creek Homes. He co-founded the firm that became MBG in 2011 and took full ownership in 2021. He provides executive leadership, technical direction, and oversight across the firm’s consulting and expert witness services, and he holds responsibility for maintaining technical and professional standards on complex construction matters.

Brice holds a master’s degree in building construction from the University of Florida, and his career spans both construction and development. He founded Prairie Creek Homes in 2023 after years of documenting how residential construction fails in Florida — and concluding that the same expertise could be applied from the beginning instead of after the fact.

Kevin Holloway — Vice President

Kevin Holloway serves as Vice President, providing executive leadership and oversight across operations, strategic initiatives, and business performance. He holds a Master of Construction Business from the University of Oklahoma. He supports the firm’s growth while maintaining consistency, quality, and alignment across projects and internal teams. For our homeowners, that means the standard applied on one home is the standard applied on every home.

Jay Kuntz — Operations Director

Jay Kuntz serves as Operations Director, overseeing company workflow, resource allocation, and project coordination. He ensures that the work is accurate, efficient, and in line with firm standards, and he plays a central role in client communication and internal coordination. Jay holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Florida. That training shows up in how he handles contracts, documentation, and risk on every project. Building a custom home involves dozens of trades and hundreds of decisions. Jay’s role is to see that the sequence holds and that homeowners always know where their project stands.

Where We Build

We are building in Alachua, Florida, in the Turkey Creek community, with three interior lots on Palmetto Boulevard currently available. Each is roughly four-tenths of an acre in an established neighborhood with mature tree canopy and an HOA in place.

Turkey Creek is our starting point, not our limit. We build across North Central Florida.

Current availability is listed on our Lot Inventory page.

How We Approach Every Home

Five commitments guide our work.

Florida-rooted design. Homes shaped by this state’s land, climate, and heritage — wide porches, breezeways, metal roofs, and proportions that belong where they are built.

Land-first stewardship. Site planning that respects topography, drainage, and existing ecosystems. We preserve open space and native features and design homes to limit disruption to the land. A portion of every community supports land conservation.

Best practices as standard. Strong envelope design and detailing, advanced moisture management, durable climate-appropriate materials, and rigorous internal quality control.

Built for generations. Sustainability, to us, means durability. The most sustainable home is the one built to last. Materials are selected for longevity and repairability. Systems are designed for long-term performance.

Integrity through expertise. Clear communication, ethical decisions from design through delivery, and consistent accountability on every project.

If a decision does not respect Florida’s land, align with best practices, or support longevity, it does not align with Prairie Creek Homes.
